Our Story
MFK started with a pretty simple idea: make food we were proud of, share the Filipino food we grew up with, and create a place where people could come together over a great meal.
Panda and I started building MFK in 2016, and in 2017 we opened our first restaurant in Anaheim.
Then in 2020 we lost everthing to a fire.
For a while, we didn’t really know what was next. We prayed about it, kept going, and eventually an opportunity came up in Bellflower. We brought MFK there and started building again.
While we were still operating in Bellflower, we opened Lola’s by MFK in Anaheim.
And then Lola’s took on a life of its own.
As Lola’s continued to grow and our time in Bellflower came to an end, we made the decision to focus on Lola’s and keep moving forward.
MFK never really disappeared, though. It stayed in the name, the food, and everything we continued to build.
Almost ten years later, MFK is coming back.
And we’re bringing it back home to Anaheim.
For us, opening MFK at OCVIBE isn’t just another restaurant opening. It feels like coming back to something we started nearly a decade ago, only now with a lot more experience, perspective, and a clearer understanding of who we are.
A lot has happened between then and now, but the reason we do this hasn’t really changed. We want to make food we’re proud of, create a place where people feel welcome and taken care of, and have them leave happy, full, and glad they came.
